Our hotel is located 10 minutes walk from the centre of the historic city of Canterbury. There are many things to see and do in and around this beautiful city,

Attractions in the city centre:

  • Canterbury Cathedral archesCanterbury CathedralCanterbury Cathedral: Still dominating Canterbury’s skyline, the Cathedral dates back to Norman times.  It was the inspiration for medieval pilgrims and continues to attract visitors from all over the world.
  • Canterbury Arts: There are many museums, art galleries, and bookshops located in Canterbury, the Museum of Canterbury, Canterbury Roman Museum, and Rupert Bear Museum. Galleries include the Stark Gallery, and Kings Gallery.
  • Canterbury Theatre: The Marlowe Theatre hosts major productions, and musical concerts throughout the year. The Gulbenkian Theatre is home of some of the best in dance, drama, music, comedy and films. The Canterbury Festival is held in October.
  • Canterbury WhitefriarsCanterbury Kings School ShopCanterbury Shops: The new Whitefriars Shopping centre boasts many of the UK’s top high street shops, but venture off the main thoroughfare and you will find more diverse and unique independent shops tucked away in Canterbury’s side-streets.
  • Canterbury Tours: The Canterbury Tales is a stunning reconstruction of Chaucer’s 14th Century England. Canterbury river tours offer a fascinating perspective and insight into Canterbury's hidden past. Tours of the cathedral are also available.
  • Canterbury World Heritage Site: Is constituted by Canterbury Cathedral and Precinct, St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church. All have great historical importance to Christianity, and offer some interesting visitor attractions.
  • SquirrelCity WallsCanterbury Green Heritage: The Dane John Gardens, where you can stroll along the city walls which border one side of the gardens, have recently won awards for excellence. The Westgate Gardens and Stour River are lovely riverside gardens with superb floral displays and views of the Medieval Westgate towers.
  • Canterbury Education: The University of Kent at Canterbury, Christ Church University, and The University College for the Creative Arts are all based in Canterbury. There are also many top independent schools such as St. Edmunds School, Kings School, and Kent College.

Outside the city centre, but still nearby, are the following places to visit:

  • Henry's sumptuous straight driveKent County Cricket Ground: Ebury Hotel is located five minutes walk from the home of Kent cricket, hosting Four-day and one-day games, international matches, and during the first week of August, the oldest cricket festival in the country.
  • Kent Golf: The County is blessed with a good number of 'Links' type courses, including three that have hosted 'The Open'. Nearby courses include Canterbury, Boughton, and Chestfield, all within a 10-minute drive.
  • Kent Wildlife: Howletts Wild animal park, (5min drive) and Port Lympne (25min drive) are devoted to saving rare and endangered animals. For less scary native species visit Kent's Unique Woodland Discovery Park. Also nice, is Blean woods.
  • Leeds CastleDover CastleKent Castles: Visit Dover Castle and the secret wartime tunnels built into its famous White Cliffs, and Leeds Castle, “the loveliest castle in the world.” Also worth a visit are Deal and Walmer Castles, Rochester Castle, Hever Castle and Allington Castle.
  • Kent Countryside: The Garden of England, The countryside surrounding Canterbury and between the coastal towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable is an area of outstanding beauty and a perfect place for an enjoyable day out. Visit nearby villages such as Bridge and Patrixbourne, or the Medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich. Sissinghurst Gardens is worth a visit, being one of the world's most celebrated gardens, the creation of Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicholson.
  • Little BritainKent Coast: Kent has one of the longest and most varied coastlines in England. Whitstable, famous for its fresh fish and oysters, and Herne Bay of “Little Britain” “I’m a Lady!” fame, are both fine examples of working seaside towns on the Kent coast. Travel slightly further afield to visit Broadstairs or Hythe, where you can take a trip on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
  • Kent Shopping: The major shopping centres for those who wish to bolster the local economy are Bluewater, and Lakeside, a short trip up the M2, or McArthurGlen the designer shopping outlet in Ashford.

Finally for those wishing to travel further:

  • London is only 90minutes from Canterbury by train, from Canterbury East or West Stations.
  • The port of Dover is 20 Minutes away from our hotel, where you can access trips to Calais, or Boulogne.
  • Ashford International Station is 20 minutes away with destination such as Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.
